Alexandria Contemporary Art Days is a multidisciplinary art event in Alexandria, Egypt, dedicated to commissioning and presenting new artistic creations developed through residencies hosted fully or partially in Alexandria.
Alexandria Contemporary Art Days positions Alexandria as a dynamic hub for artistic research, creation, and public presentations. The festival showcases newly developed performances and exhibitions that have been created in Alexandria through residencies, premiering for the first time in the city and within one year of their production.
ACAD’s first edition took place in October 2025. Stay tuned for the second edition in October 2027.
Alexandria Contemporary Art Days is rooted in the idea of producing new artistic works that were developed in Alexandria. Through artist residencies and commissions, we invite artists from different disciplines and interdisciplinary practitioners to create and present new artworks. The event is not about presenting artworks inspired by Alexandria but rather about making Alexandria the place where art is made.
Alexandria Contemporary Art Days is produced by B'sarya for Arts, an art space in Alexandria where artists from diverse disciplines come together to explore, collaborate, and create bold works through structured residencies.
B'sarya for Arts was established in 2017 with the mission of contributing to the development of the contemporary art scene in Alexandria. Over the years, we have grown into a multi-functional space that offers residencies, exhibitions, performances, and artistic research opportunities. From 2019 to December 2024, B’sarya AiR (B’sarya Artist-in-Residence programme) has hosted 98 artists from 21 different countries in various research and creation residencies. Alexandria Contemporary Art Days is an expansion of B'sarya's commitment to supporting artists in creating new work in Alexandria.
